ION-EXCHANGE RESINS

This technology uses ion-exchange polymers that, when in contact with a solution containing dissolved salts, ions, capture specific ions and exchange them with others of the same electrical charge.

There are two types of resins:

Cationic: for exchanging positive ions
Anionic: for exchanging negative ions

BENEFITS

  • Reduction of calcium and potassium ion concentrations, ensuring tartaric stability in wines
  • pH reduction and decreased risk of malolactic fermentation
  • Reduction of iron and other metal concentrations
